We made a big mistake coming to El Paredon… it was a waste of time and money. We should have got the hint when all the bus companies thought we were wanted to go to san jose, costa rica instead of san jose, Guatemala. We arrived when it was dark and the little surf town of El Paredon which only had three or four places to stay. The Surf hostel was all full so we went to the next place along the beach which was expensive but really nice. We got a massive room with three beds and everyone was exhausted so we put on a movie and passed out. The next morning I got up at 6 and watched the sunrise and went out to get my first surf of the trip in. It was hard to start surfing again after not doing it for 9 months, my shoulder and chest took a beating after going on and off for about 5 hours. The town of el Paredon was small and remote. No backpackers, only locals and it was empty, we were the only ones at our hotel. It was nice and relaxing but we all wanted a nicer beach and better surf so we decided that the next day we should take a shuttle to El Salvador.
